About the CSHP Research & Education Foundation
The Research and Education Foundation was created by the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists to promote hospital pharmacy research in Canada.
The Foundation raises funds that are used to:
- promote the development of research skills among practicing hospital pharmacists
- support research initiatives undertaken by members of CSHP, and
- support advanced institutional pharmacy education programs that include a major research component
The trustees of the Foundation are appointed by council annually. CSHP Council appoints the chairperson of the trustees who reports to council. The Foundation operates independently from CSHP according to the Trust Deed approved by Revenue Canada.
Fundraising
In order to accomplish its goals, the Foundation seeks funding from a variety of sources. An annual fundraising campaign is initiated each summer to solicit funds from individual members of the Society, pharmaceutical companies and other companies/trade associations that are associated with hospital pharmacy.
The trustees are proud that the Foundation's administrative costs are negligible. The only operating expenses incurred to date have been for printing and mailing of fundraising materials. A number of CSHP members have provided their services on a voluntary basis so that the funds raised can be directed almost entirely to the research and education objectives of the foundation.
