RESIDENCY PROGRAM

Vacation/holiday leave: 10 days  

Education/conference leave: Minimum 5 days, the resident is encouraged to attend at least one major pharmacy conference

Program highlights: Accredited CHPRB program offered in affiliation with the College of Pharmacy , Dalhousie University .  12-month general residency program designed to develop self-directed practitioners for exemplary pharmacy practice.  Emphasis is on direct patient care and problem solving-skills. 

The Resident participates in the interprofessional learning program of the Family Medicine Residency Program.

Required Rotations:

Drug Distribution and IV Admixtures – 4-6 weeks
Drug Information – 4 weeks
Pharmacy Administration - 2 weeks
Family Practice – 4 weeks
Geriatrics – 4weeks
Major Project – 7 weeks

Elective Rotations:

Residents are expected to complete one rotation from each area of practice, if scheduling permits.  The resident may select their remaining electives without restriction.  Availability of rotations may be site specific.  Residents are only expected to complete rotations at the site they are accepted into (Moncton or Saint John).  However, residents may request to complete rotations at the other site.  Preference for rotation selection is given to the site specific residents.

Minimum required credentials: Canadian citizens/landed immigrants who have graduated from a recognized College of Pharmacy and have a strong motivation to attain high level of competency in pharmacy practice.  Successful applicants must obtain PEBC certificate and become licensed in NB early in the residency program.  Residents must register in the Post Graduate Pharmacy Program and pay tuition fees to Dalhousie University .
