RESIDENCY PROGRAM

Focus: Provision of pharmaceutical care to inpatients as well as to selected ambulatory clinics

Application deadline: as set by HPRFO
(Applications are available from the HPRFO (Hospital Pharmacy Residency Forum of Ontario) website. Completed applications must be submitted to the Hospital Program Director and an agreement form submitted to the CHPRB Residency Matching Service. Admission to the program is based on an on-site interview with a panel led by the Residency Coordinator. An on-site interview will be offered to candidates who have enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy and meet short list criteria established by the Program.)
Starting date: June - September

Program highlights: A general pharmacy residency program of one year in duration to prepare candidate for future hospital practice. The emphasis is on enhancing the understanding of pharmaceutical care and developing skills in the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients.  The resident will also have opportunities to develop presentation, teaching ,research and leadership skills. The teaching environment provides multiple opportunities for interaction with undergraduate and post-graduate students in pharmacy and other disciplines.  A certificate in Hospital Pharmacy Residency will be granted upon successful completion of the program.

Minimum required credentials: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree (from a Canadian or American accredited school of Pharmacy with didactic and experiential courses in philosophy and practice of pharmaceutical care).
