CHPRB Strategic Objectives

By the year 2015, the Canadian Hospital Pharmacy Residency Board will:

  1. Develop and implement Accreditation Standards that:
    • Support competency-based accreditation standards in pharmacy residency training;
    • Collaborate with other pharmacy organizations and accrediting bodies, as well as accrediting bodies of other health professional training programs;
    • Support innovation in program design and delivery (e.g., ambulatory, community).
  2. Facilitate the development and sharing of knowledge, skills, and tools that foster excellence in residency training by:
    • Sharing exemplary pharmacy residency program models, curricula, and tools;
    • Supporting, promoting, evaluating and/or conducting scholarly activity related to pharmacy practice residencies;
    • Developing an educational program plan.
  3. Conduct the operations of the Board effectively, and efficiently, in a fiscally responsible manner by:
    • Identifying, surveying, and accrediting pharmacy practice residency programs;
    • Evaluating the Standards by which pharmacy residency programs are accredited;
    • Maintaining policies and procedures for the accreditation process;
    • Effectively communicate residency related information to stakeholders;
    • Developing and maintaining a balanced budget;
    • Applying quality improvement principles to the activities of the Board;
    • Encouraging the growth of education, training, and program evaluation/quality improvement expertise of Board members;
    • Engaging in strategic planning activities.
  4. Develop a strategy for addressing Specialty Residencies by:
    • Developing a definition of specialty residency programs;
    • Collaborating with stakeholders to develop accreditation standards for specialty residencies;
    • Developing a strategy to conduct specialty residency accreditation on-site visits.
