Theresa Hurley, BSc(Pharm), ACPR

Theresa graduated from Dalhousie University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. She worked at Saint John Regional Hospital for two years before moving to London, ON to complete a Residency in Hospital Pharmacy in 1991. After a brief return to NB community pharmacy practice, she moved to Halifax to work at Camp Hill Medical Centre in 1993. Theresa assumed various clinical roles before joining the Drug Information Centre in 2002. She is currently chairperson of the Nova Scotia Health Authority IV Drug Therapy Subcommittee and the Provincial Antidote Kit Advisory Committee.
Theresa has been continuously active in the CSHP Nova Scotia Branch since 1993. She has been a member of almost all Branch committees including Awards, Education, Membership, and Student Public Relations. She was a member of the planning committee for the CSHP Summer Education Session held in Halifax in 2010.
Theresa served on NS Branch Council for 13 years (2001-14). First as liaison to the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists for 5 years followed by the presidential offices from 2007-10. She became NS Delegate to the CSHP Board in 2010 and served for 4 years. Theresa has mentored numerous branch members, served as branch historian and revised countless branch documents; the most recent being the Branch Operating Guidelines in 2014. She was awarded the Gail McGlynn-Tuttle Memorial Practitioner Award in 2003 for significant contributions to CSHP and hospital pharmacy practice by the NS Branch.
On a national level, Theresa served on the Risk Management Task Force from 2011-6. She is currently chairperson of the Parenteral Pharmacy Specialty Network (PSN) and is a member of the PSN Coordinating Committee.
Theresa has presented at both national (Professional Practice Conference 2007, Summer Education Session 2012) and branch education events during her career. She is grateful to CSHP for providing her the opportunity to grow professionally, network with other CSHP members, and for enriching her career.
Theresa is an avid traveler and theatregoer. She lives in Dartmouth with her husband, Ian and cat, Digger.
Theresa was recognized at a formal awards ceremony at the 49th Annual Professional Practice Conference (PPC). The ceremony was held on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at the Beanfield Centre (at Exhibition Place) in Toronto.
