2021 Honorary Member

Régis Vaillancourt

OMM, CD, B.Pharm, Pharm D, FCSHP, FFIP, FOPQ

Dr. Régis Vaillancourt recently retired as the Director of Pharmacy of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, where he worked since 2005.  Prior to joining the children's hospital, Dr. Vaillancourt served as a military pharmacist for 25 years. His rank at retirement from the Canadian Armed Forces was lieutenant colonel. Today, Dr Vaillancourt is a pharmacy consultant. 

Dr. Vaillancourt received his Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Laval in 1983, his hospital pharmacy residency certificate from the National Defense Medical Center (in affiliation with University of Toronto) in 1987, and his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Toronto in 1995. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Vaillancourt has worked with numerous pharmacy organizations. He has served as a board member of l'Ordre des pharmaciens du Québec and of the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities, and as vice president of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP).  Dr. Vaillancourt has served as president of CSHP, the Ontario College of Pharmacists, and Pharmacists without Borders-Canada.  

Dr. Vaillancourt’s dedication to the pharmacy profession has been recognized locally, nationally, and internationally through numerous awards and appointments. He has been named a Fellow by CSHP, the International Pharmaceutical Federation, and l'Ordre des pharmaciens du Québec.  In 2004 the Canadian Pharmacists Association named him the Canadian Pharmacist of the Year.  In addition to pharmacy-related accolades, Dr. Vaillancourt was awarded the Order of Military Merit by former Governor General Adrienne Clarkson.   In 2013 he received the Distinguished Service Award from CSHP, and in 2015, he received the International Pharmaceutical Federation Distinguished Practice Award.  Dr. Vaillancourt has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles on pharmacy practice, with a focus on medication safety and health literacy. 

In recognition of Dr. Vaillancourt's outstanding contributions to hospital pharmacy, CSHP is proud to name him the 2021 Honorary Member.

 


2020 Honorary Member

Nancy Roberts, B.Sc. (Pharm), FCSHP, D.E.S.S., CHE
Moncton, New Brunswick





In 2018, Nancy retired from her role as Executive Director – Primary Health Care with the New Brunswick Department of Health. Looking back on Nancy’s career and impact, her colleagues describe her in the warmest terms: Lauza Saulnier, Regional Director, Quality and Patient Safety Services at Horizon Health and one of Nancy’s nominators for this honour, calls Nancy “a multi-talented person who possesses an authentic zest for living,” “an optimist,” and “a visionary.”

These qualities have brought Nancy an impactful and rewarding career. She previously held the positions of Executive Director – Program Integration and Performance with the New Brunswick Department of Health; Vice President Planning, Quality and Performance Excellence with the Horizon Health Network; and Vice President of Planning and Professional Services for the South-East Regional Health Authority. Prior to her positions in health care administration, Nancy was a practicing pharmacist at the Moncton Hospital and served as Director of Pharmacy Services.  

Nancy has brought her characteristic expertise and leadership to numerous boards and committees, guiding her teams to innovate in areas such as e-health and patient safety. Along with many other board positions, Nancy served as the chair of the New Brunswick Chapter of the Canadian College of Healthcare Leaders (CCHL), and she is currently a Director on the Board of the CCHL. At the provincial level, she has served on the New Brunswick Premier’s Health Quality Council and the New Brunswick Primary Health Care Advisory Committee.

CSHP has been lucky enough to benefit from Nancy’s leadership for many decades. In addition to contributing to numerous committees and task forces, Nancy has served as the Strategic Planning Committee Chair, and as the Canadian Hospital Pharmacy Residency Board Chair. She has served as president of the New Brunswick Branch and as CSHP national president. “Nancy has given so much to our community,” says Jody Ciufo, CEO of CSHP. “We’re delighted that as Nancy thrives in her retirement and enjoys spending time with her loved ones, she’ll continue to be an active and valued member of CSHP – for life!”


2019 Honorary Member

Robert (Bob) Nakagawa

B.Sc. (Pharm), FCSHP, ACPR
Vancouver, British Columbia

Robert (Bob) Nakagawa is the Registrar of the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.

Bob has over 35-years of pharmacy, health administration and policy experience. He has a pharmacy degree from the University of British Columbia and a residency from St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists. He has worked in hospitals, health authorities, and government settings as a pharmacist, Director, and Assistant Deputy Minister.

Bob is an experienced leader. He has been President of both the College of Pharmacists of BC and the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists. He has chaired the Medical Services Commission, the BC Drug Benefits Committee, and the Federal Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for Canada. He has served as the Federal government representative on the Health Council of Canada.

In his spare time, he is an amateur photographer, avid runner, and cyclist.
