AMMI Canada’s Asymptomatic Bacteriuria in Long-Term Care Residents Campaign
AMMI Canada's Antimicrobial Stewardship and Resistance Committee (ASRC) with representation from CSHP and hospital pharmacy practitioners has developed “Asymptomatic Bacteriruria in Long-Term Care Residents” resources for pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.
The Asymptomatic Bacteriuria campaign targets nurses, physicians, pharmacists, front-line healthcare providers, patients, and families involved with long-term care facilities with the aim to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use and increase awareness of antibiotic resistance in Canada. The national initiative aligns with antimicrobial stewardship to encourage best practices among the general public, health workers, and policy makers to avoid the further emergence and spread of resistance.
Additional information and resources that include a webinar, educational slides for healthcare providers, posters, and a letter for patients and their families are located on the AMMI Canada website.
