Banff Seminar 2019
45th Annual CSHP Western Branches Banff Seminar at the Banff Centre in Alberta
The 2019 Banff Seminar Planning Committee is excited to welcome you to the 45th Annual CSHP Western Branches Banff Seminar! Our conference will take place in Banff, Alberta on March 15-17, 2019 under the theme of “Come Together”. There are many changes taking places across the Western Branches that are affecting the practice of pharmacy. It is important in these times of change, that we come together to unite as colleagues, peers, and team members to empower one another. In keeping with this theme, we are excited to announce that we will be hosting our first ever technician-led concurrent session!
We have a tremendous educational program lined up this year, combining engaging presentations with opportunities to network and socialize with your peers. In keeping with tradition, Friday afternoon will bring back a moderated panel that will kick start a discussion on succession planning in the profession of pharmacy. We will also hear from a colleague that practices in New Zealand on his experiences in implementing an electronic clinical information system down under! We will wrap up the day with our ever popular Friday evening social event. Saturday morning will see our keynote speaker, Michael Landsberg, speak to lifting the stigma when it comes to mental illness and depression. As healthcare providers we play a huge role in coming together for our patients in this regard. Our Saturday program will remain extended this year to host our second year of facilitated posters. This will be followed by the annual Saturday night banquet and a shorter Sunday program. We are happy to announce that we are seeking CCCEP accreditation for both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians!
The Banff Seminar Planning Committee is made up of 16 volunteers who dedicate their time and resources throughout the year to bring this conference to life. I would like to extend thanks to all of them for their incredible hard work, creativity, and collegiality. The speakers, the social events, the fundraising, and the logistics would not be possible without their commitment.
Our committee would also like to take this opportunity to extend a huge thank you to our industry partners. Their sponsorship of the CSHP Banff Seminar allows us to come back to Banff every year and offset our conference expenses. Their sponsorship also allows us to keep our registration fees for the conference at an affordable level for all our attendees.
Last, but certainly not least, our committee would like to thank all of the pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and students that support this conference! The ability to come together, in one venue, annually is such a wonderful opportunity and is only possible with your ongoing support and attendance.
I look forward to seeing everyone come together once again in beautiful Banff, Alberta this upcoming spring!
