Call for Applications: Volunteer position of CSHP Representative to the National Faculty on the Use of Opioids for Chronic Non-Cancer Pain
Term of Appointment: 3 years plus optional additional 2 years – 5 years maximum
Term Commences: June 2019
CSHP is seeking a new representative to the National Faculty on the Use of Opioids for Chronic Non-Cancer Pain. The National Faculty is under the coordination of the Michael G. DeGroote National Pain Centre at McMaster University, whose mission is to improve the management of pain through the dissemination of best practice information. As its first major activity, the Michael G. DeGroote National Pain Centre has accepted responsibility for stewardship of the Canadian Guideline for Safe and Effective Use of Opioids for Chronic Non-Cancer Pain. This Guideline has been developed over the past several years by the National Opioid Use Guideline Group, a subcommittee of the Federation of Medical Regulatory Authorities of Canada. The stewardship of the Michael G. DeGroote National Pain Centre will include updating of the Guideline as new evidence becomes available and continuing knowledge transfer to practice.
Qualified candidates should:
- Be a current CSHP Member.
- Possess expertise in the use of opioids for chronic non-cancer pain.
- Be involved in intraprofessional, interprofessional or patient education.
- Act as a useful ambassador for the Guideline.
- Be available to collaborate by teleconference and e-mail.
CSHP representatives are required to file a report to the CSHP Board twice yearly.
