Proposed amendments to the Patented Medicines Regulation
Project InformationDue Date:
Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) recently launched a consultation regarding to proposed amendments to the Patented Medicines Regulations. You are invited you to participate in the consultation.
The proposed amendments would enable the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board to better protect Canadians from paying excessive prices for patented drugs. As you know, over 20 years have passed since the Patented Medicines Regulations have changed, even though the pharmaceutical market has changed significantly. And, from 2003 to 2014, Canada consistently had the second- or third-highest pharmaceutical spending per capita among developed countries.
The proposed amendments are published in Protecting Canadians from Excessive Drug Prices: Consultation on Proposed Amendments to the Patented Medicines Regulations.
