CSHP Launches Enhanced Liability Insurance Program
Improved coverage, reduced rates, ongoing value
CSHP is pleased to announce that we have appointed BMS Canada Risk Services (BMS) as our new, exclusive Insurance Broker for the 2019-2020 member insurance program renewal. In making this change, Professional Liability and Commercial General Liability Insurance are more comprehensive and cost-effective for members.
Additionally, CSHP members will now have access to industry-specific risk management resources, experienced insurance and claims service and specialist legal support, including pro bono services.
CSHP’s responsibility to members extends to periodically testing the market to ensure the insurance products and services we provide represent the best value. This due diligence resulted in BMS’ appointment, with their extended service offering.

BMS has leveraged its knowledge of the Canadian and global healthcare sector, and insurance market relationships to deliver significantly enhanced coverage that meet all Canadian regulatory requirements at reduced rates.
Increased evidence-based practice risk resources will also be created in conjunction with the CSHP team. This data-driven material will help to reduce practice risk by affording members greater insight into emerging trends in Canada.
Specialist insurance, legal and claims support will also be accessible to all participating members.
BMS is a Lloyd’s insurance broker that has a national team dedicated to working with Associations. BMS provides coverage and value-added services to more than 500,000 regulated professionals through 70+ national and provincial associations across Canada.
BMS has been recognized for its member service, winning the Insurance Business Canada award for “Outstanding Customer Service by an Insurance Brokerage”. CSHP members will have direct access to a team of knowledgeable brokers via phone, email and live chat.
What does this mean for me?
Until July 1st, 2019, nothing changes. If you receive a notification or claim, please contact the provider listed on your current Certificate of Insurance.
In May, you will receive an email from CSHP with a link to the new online platform, where you will be able to purchase the new enhanced PLI and CGL for the July 1, 2019 – July 1, 2020 policy period, at a reduced cost.
As of July 1st, 2019, BMS will be your contact point for any insurance related questions, and you should contact BMS if you receive a notification, complaint or have a claim made against you.
