Health Canada recently released a guidance document to provide assistance on how to comply with governing statues and regulations with respect to the handling and destruction of post-consumer returns containing controlled substances. The guidance document is to be read in conjunction with the Guidance Document for Pharmacists, Practitioners and Persons in Charge of Hospitals: Handling and Destruction of Unserviceable Stock Containing Narcotics, Controlled Drugs, Targeted Substances to clarify the recommended procedures for the handling and destruction of post-consumer returns and unserviceable stock.
