Lecturer and Coordinator Position Available with UBC's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Applications are invited for a 1-year, full-time leave coverage position of Lecturer and Coordinator, Office of Experiential Education (OEE), Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UBC.
The successful applicant will work primarily with the Director – Office of Experiential Education to coordinate PHRM 472 and PHRM 473, Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) practicum courses within the inpatient setting; co-coordinate PHRM 251 – Institutional Practice Skills; implement preceptor-student models that would support placement capacity (e.g., layered, paired students); sustain and build placement capacity, recruit new pharmacy sites and explore new practicum opportunities; and conduct scholarship in experiential education.
Additional administrative and teaching responsibilities include the following:
- Support and guide the Experiential Education Facilitators (EEFs) and serve as a liaison between the Faculty and the EEFs
- Contribute to the coordination and ongoing refinement of the Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) practicum courses
- Ensure course materials and activities are reflective of current and future pharmacy practice and guidelines and actively engage students in meaningful learning experiences
- Apply best practices and continuous quality improvement for practicum course development and delivery
- Serve as a liaison to practice sites in matters pertaining to student placements
- Participate in student learning activities and progress, providing feedback to students and other stakeholders as necessary
- Contribute to the design and delivery of practice educator development programs and enhancement of practice educator recognition
- Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students
- Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offer plans for improvement
- Supervise/co-supervise graduate or undergraduate students for any project or course-related work
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, Faculty, staff and other professionals
- Increase the profile of the OEE within the pharmacy community
- Perform other related functions as required by the Director, OEE
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the academic life and teach/supervise learners in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He/she will be an innovative teacher who will integrate technologies and new approaches to learning into our curriculum. The successful individual should possess exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, be able to work effectively and contribute within a team environment, and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Preference will be given to an individual with current and active experience in precepting, coaching and mentoring students and those that operate from a solid understanding of inpatient pharmacy practice.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or a Pharm D degree and must be eligible for licensure in British Columbia. Completion of an accredited pharmacy practice residency or post-graduate Pharm D is an asset. Salary is negotiable, commensurate with experience and is subject to final budgetary approval.
