CSHP Welcomes New CEO, Karla Thorpe

October 15 , 2025  —  The Canadian Society of Healthcare-Systems Pharmacy (CSHP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Karla Thorpe as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective November 12, 2025. 

Karla joins CSHP with more than 25 years of experience in strategic leadership, stakeholder collaboration, and healthcare systems improvement. She most recently served as Vice President, Programs and Priorities at the Mental Health Commission of Canada, where she advanced national partnerships and initiatives to strengthen Canada’s mental health system. 

Previously, Karla held leadership roles with the Conference Board of Canada, including Director of Workplace Health and Wellness, where she guided evidence-based research and policy initiatives to improve the health and productivity of Canada’s workforce. She holds a Master of Science in Statistics from Queen’s University and completed the Not-for-Profit Governance Essentials Program through the Institute of Corporate Directors. 

“It’s an honour to join such a passionate team dedicated to integrity, inclusivity, leadership, and collaboration,” says Thorpe. “I look forward to connecting with members and partners across the country as we build on CSHP’s strong foundation and continue advancing patient-centred care.” 

Katie Hollis, President of CSHP, expressed her enthusiasm for the appointment, noting that Thorpe’s experience and collaborative leadership style will strengthen the Society’s impact across Canada’s healthcare landscape. 

“Karla’s leadership will enhance CSHP’s advocacy efforts, professional leadership, and external influence as we continue to champion excellence in healthcare-systems pharmacy,” said Hollis. “We’re delighted to welcome her to the CSHP community.” 

Under Karla’s leadership, CSHP will continue to strive for all people in Canada to receive the best pharmacy care – when, where, and how they need it – across our healthcare systems.
